I hear Phil in the backround probably and this was probably at the BMSC Whale lab as they call it.
wow changes colour so fast :)
Holy crap! I didn't know they could change color so fast. They put chameleons to shame!
Great stuff,,i lived there for 23 years,im thinking this is filmed @ the Station. Fergy.
SON OF A Piiiiiiiip
can you buy these as a pet
Great animal, but it should be in the sea...
Wow! That is awesome! :)
How big was it exactly?
Is the name of the species "Dwarf Octopus" or "Veined Octopus"?
-Chris
oh man
lol do u know mgs4?if not search for "octocamo"
Think of the military applications... oh shit.
Its interesting how they can actually detect the texture and colour of the surface strata they are on and change almost immediently. Chromatophores are quite amazing things, especially in octopus's coz theirs is neural so change instantly, chameleons are chemical based so changes are alot slower. Im a scientific journalist, i donE an article on the Blue Ringed Octopus a few weeks back. They go blue rings and with a yellow background about 5 seconds before they attack as a warning. Amazing dudes.
i want one
make me proud to own one. Very nice video
WHOA!!
This was on a field trip my Invertebrate Zoology class went on to Bamfield Marine Sciences Center on Vancouver Island
hey just wondering..what class are you talking?
They are extremely difficult to take care of, not to mention they don't live long. Plus most pet stores or owners don't know the species type. I hear they can easily climb out of your tank if you don't have a secure top. Also, feeding them is expensive I hear, being that they eat shrimp and clam. Given all this, I still think they kick ass.
I'm not sure of the species of the octopus
I want to get a dwarf octopus.
is this octopus wolffi? |
