The country has become what it is because people not believing in it and standing up for what is right. I have spent over 20 yrs in the military. I have been around the world and have seen what life is like without freedom. We constantly point out the negatives and weaknesses of our great country. We have quit noticing all the good that is around us everyday. We are still the greatest country on the planet. Not because of our government, but because of the great people who live here.

Don't forget...many of the defenders of the Alamo were ethnic Mexicans. It was a mix of races, creeds, and colors fighting for their freedom (they even had a real Scottish bagpiper who liked to play along the catwalks in the evenings), and to be Texicans; they wanted to form the Republic of Texas (which they did, at least for a short time). Study the war, and the battle; there wasn't any racist garbage involved. It was a group of people wanting freedom from tyranny.

Why do so many Mexicans want to live int he United States and not in their homeland called Mexico? For most of the same reasons Texas wanted the hell out of Mexico!

@TheTabellarius Of course not, but I judge who was right and wrong in any conflict by what impact it had for the future of civilization. If it was for the better than it was good and if not, it was bad. The United State's successes have far out paced our failures, and world would be far worse off without the United State than with it. You are just envious and angry at our success and what we have done for the cause of freedom. Never said perfect, but better than the rest...
